A San Francisco businessman who has just received an official pat on the back from city business officials may celebrate the honor by banging on some drums.

Akbar Moghaddam's San Francisco-based company, Sol Drums & Percussion, has been named the winner of the city's first "Shop Outside the Box: Buy from San Francisco Small Businesses" award.

The small Business Commission selected Moghaddam's shop because of it's "entrepreneurial spirit" and its commitment to staying local. "This year's nominees were recognized for using talent and innovation to turn their clever ideas into employment opportunities and new revenue streams for our city," commission director Julie Brandt said in a released statement.

Sol Drums & Percussion specializes in Latin percussion instruments, which the company manufactures within the United States.
